Knee Arthroscopy:
Common conditions that can be helped with this type of surgery are cartilage tears (meniscal tears) that are causing your knee to lock or giveaway. Ligament tears such as ACL repairs are also done through this approach.
Arthroscopy of the knee perhaps is more commonly performed than it is necessary. Persisting locking of the knee is usually a good indication for surgery. Persisting knee symptoms despite use of anti-inflammatories, painkillers and physiotherapy will benefit from seeing specialist. A simple X-ray in addition to clinical examination may be all that is required to begin with.
Knee Arthroscopy
Commonly known as 'Key Hole' surgery. Surgery involves 2-3 small incisions for insertion of camera and instruments to carry out the surgery. The surgery is performed for meniscal tears and ligament injuries. The surgery is a daycase procedure, you would be able to go home after a couple of hours. Knee is usually swollen for 2-6 weeks depending on the extent of surgery.
